#Using Biblion in a Web Browser (Standalone Mode)

#1. What Is Standalone Mode?

Biblion works in two places:

  • Inside Microsoft Word, as a taskpane add-in, where it can insert citations straight into your manuscript.
  • In any web browser, as a standalone app. Use it to search PubMed, read abstracts, organise your library and copy citations into any editor.

Biblion detects where it is running and adjusts itself.

#3. Copy a Citation in the Browser

  1. Search for an article.
  2. On its card, click Copy Citation. The button briefly changes to Copied!
  3. Paste into your document. You get the in-text citation and the full reference entry, formatted in the current style (APA 7th Edition by default in a browser).

#4. Works in a Narrow Taskpane Too

The layout adapts to narrow windows, down to about 320 px wide, the width of a typical Word taskpane. The header, the navigation and the search box stay usable.

#5. Navigating Biblion in Web Mode

The main navigation bar in Web Mode includes:

  • Search: PubMed / MEDLINE literature search (home / landing page with Microsoft Word Add-in companion introduction).
  • My Library: your saved articles, collections, notes, and bibliographic export (BibTeX, RIS, JSON).
  • Blog (Web Mode Only): biomedical literature updates and feature articles.
  • About (Web Mode Only): comprehensive overview of the dual-mode architecture (Web Companion vs. Microsoft Word Add-in), feature comparison matrix, step-by-step instructions to install Biblion into Microsoft Word (Office Store, Word on the Web, Windows, Mac, and Admin deployment) with manifest download, user guides, and direct customer support email (support@biosystechnologies.com).

The footer provides direct links to About Biblion, Blog, Privacy Policy, and Terms of Use.
